At this year’s graduation ceremony at the Hochalpines Institut Ftan, it wasn’t only the speeches from the school leadership, board, and invited guests that took centre stage – it was the graduates themselves who gave the occasion its special sparkle.
In a powerful demonstration of genuine inclusivity, the students chose to give their speeches in the language that held the most personal meaning for them – Rumantsch, English, or German. With accompanying translations, they ensured that every guest could follow along. Their words were honest, relatable, and authentically reflected who they are and what they stand for.
The graduating class showed diversity not only in language but also as a deeply connected community: different in backgrounds and cultures, united in spirit. For years, they learned, lived, and supported one another, growing stronger together. This sense of togetherness was also evident in their impressive academic achievements: with an average grade of 5.54, the class achieved an outstanding result. The highest individual score awarded was 5.96 – a testament to individual excellence within a supportive environment.
